The People Choose Sith

13 Jan

How coincidental that my first ever post for this year is about “Revenge of the Sith”. Regular readers of this blog (prolly just my sisters!) must be aware by now how a big time geek I am, and this is just one evidence of that.

As some of you might have already heard, “Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith” took home 2 of the awards in the last People’s Choice Awards, “Favorite Movie Drama” and “Favorite Movie”. I am not one to gloat about any award that Sith should win, but I just have to say that this one says it all as to what film really mattered to the “people” last year, that Sith was indeed IT.

“The film that earned the most money in 2005 has also been chosen as the public’s favorite film of the year. At Tuesday night’s annual People’s Choice awards, Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith beat out all of the Oscar favorites to win the best film title.”

Harrison Ford was the presenter for Favorite Movie, for which the nominees were “Hitch”, “Batman Begins” and “Sith”. When he announced Sith as the winner, he said, “The Force is strong in this one.” George Lucas was in attendance to accept the award, and it was obvious that he was moved to receive it. Here was his speech: “Thank you. Thank you all. This is a very, very important award for me. Star Wars, oddly enough, doesn’t really get that many awards. I’m not a big favorite with the critics, but who listens to them? I’m not a big industry favorite either, but of course they are a bunch of studio executives. The most important people for any filmmaker, the reason that I make films, is for you! The audience rules! Thank you. Thank you very much!”

No George, Thank you for Star Wars!

Thank you, Mr. Lucas. As the great director you are, you understand that movies are made for the people.

May the Force be with you, Simone!

Pedro here is one of the guys I met on TMB last year. We met that night the full trailer of Sith was released online and we have been great friends since. When I need help from the trolls, he’s always there to zap them out with his FORCE. LOLOLOL

The award is for us! 😉

    MTFBWY too!

Every now and then I come across a gem of a website while browsing, and this is the latest one:

It contains a selection of films including Star Wars condensed down to 30 seconds or less, with all the parts acted out by bunny rabbits! Sounds bizarre? It is, but also very funny.
