Film Review: Spiderman 3

18 May

Plot: Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) has finally managed to strike a balance between his devotion to M.J. (Kirsten Dunst) and his duties as a superhero. But there is a storm brewing on the horizon. When his suit suddenly changes, turning jet-black and enhancing his powers, it transforms Peter as well, bringing out the dark, vengeful side of his personality that he is struggling to control. Under the influence of the suit, Peter becomes overconfident and starts to neglect the people who care for him most. Forced to choose between the seductive power of the new suit and the compassionate hero he used to be, Peter must overcome his personal demons as two of the most-feared villains yet, Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) and Venom (Topher Grace), gather unparalleled power and a thirst for retribution to threaten Peter and everyone he loves.

I’ll make it short and painful. I never liked this franchise so judge me as being biased but this film was just way pretentious – long and overdrawn, borders on the ridiculous and silly, it was real torture having to sit through it.

Its saving grace was Bruce Campbell – that was the best part of the film for me.

Excellent review. I thought it was the best of the trilogy, but I also agree with all of the points you made. In fact, I think I told my wife on the way out of the movie that Bruce Campbell stole the show.

This is not a movie to take it so seriously. If you see it with a cool attitude, it´s very enjoyable. People… oh people…

I suppose so Peter, I guess I was just being biased about it all, but still! 😛
