Film Review: The Savages

31 Jan

Plot: The Savages portrays an all-too-common dilemma: after drifting apart emotionally and geographically over the years, two siblings Wendy (Laura Linney) and Jon (Philip Seymour Hoffman) must band together to care for an elderly parent (Philip Bosco).

Easily one of the few best films released in 2007. This movie spoke to me in so many levels and I loved that it was perfectly cast by having Philp Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney play the Savages siblings. The symbolism about the dog getting depressed and will be put to death is a winner.

The Savages: 4/5

I wasn’t a big fan. I enjoyed the film but something about it just didn’t sit right with me which is really too bad considering how excellent the performances are.
